Having a Christian boy/girl relationship is important.. Posted : 26 Oct, 2014 07:50 AM

First, in the spiritual sense – a couple’s relationship with God should be the primary factor in any relationship, and they should be matched in that regard. Believers are commanded to marry other believers (2 Corinthians 6:14), so there is no reason to be dating an unbeliever. But a couple should also be evenly matched in the more practical aspects, having compatible temperaments, similar energy levels, and shared life-goals and interests. These things add tremendously to happiness in a relationship. \"Find Someone who will lead you not into temptation but to help you become more mature and helps you to grow spiritually in the presence of the Lord. God Bless :)

The shared life-goals are incredibly important.

well to me, i dont think its that important to have a christian boyfriend/girlfriend spouse, reason is this, Love is Spontaneous and sometimes it comes when and where you most least expect it, if this should happen , what do you do when the person involved is not a Christian. i think as a Christian, you should be able to turn the person into a disciple of christ, when the grace of God is in you, nothing is impossible to do, try as much as possible to win souls for God, we musnt always go for the already known Christ and neglets the others who needs salvation. This is my observation. So in conclussion, i think it is very important to even have someone who doesnt know christ as your fiance/fiancee so through you, he can come to salvation.God bless.

Omaharry what you said is not scriptural. You cannot serve two masters. Choose this day to fully surrender.

2Tim 2:

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Omaharry: By your own words >>you are "leaning on your own understanding" ....

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths."

Your heart is deceiving you! Your feelings on this are not the way to follow.

1st Corinthians 13:12 says, "For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known." We only see part of the picture God is painting. If we are to truly trust Him, we have to let go of our pride, our programs, and our plans. Even the best-laid human plans cannot begin to approach the magnificent sagacity of God’s plan. “For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom” (1 Corinthians 1:25).

Study Gods word and apply it to your life.
If you go ahead and follow your plan:

You will suffer greatly because God cannot and will not entertain your sin. Falling away from God is a slow thing. Before you know it you will find yourself in heaps of trials that you yourself could have avoided!
Has Gods word told us to be equally yoked? Yes! Then why is it that you think you have a better idea?

Most of us have a desperate desire to understand, but in so many areas we must acknowledge that we cannot understand. We must approve of God’s ways, even when we can’t comprehend them. Isaiah 55:8-9 tells us why we often don't understand what God is doing: "'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,' declares the Lord. 'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.'"

God sees the whole picture, while we only see our tiny corner of it. To trust in the Lord with all our heart means we can't place our own right to understand above His right to direct our lives the way He sees fit. When we insist on God always making sense to our finite minds, we are setting ourselves up for spiritual trouble.

Our limited understanding can easily lead us astray. Proverbs 16:25 says, "There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death." When we choose to direct our lives according to what seems right to us, we often reap disaster (Judges 21:25).

Every culture has tried to get God to approve of its definition of right and wrong, but God never changes and His standards never change (Numbers 23:19; James 1:17; Romans 11:29). Every person must make a decision whether to live his or her life according to personal preference or according to the unchanging Word of God. We often will not understand how God is causing "all things to work together for good" (Romans 8:28), but when we trust Him with all our hearts, we know that He is. He will never fail us (Psalm 119:142; Philippians 2:13).

You [spiritual] adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that the fellowship the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wants to be a friend of the world is the enemy of God [and has committed adultery with the world]. James 4:4

Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh [the sinful nature] with its passions and desires [lusts and affections]. Gal 5:24

So then those who are living the life of the flesh [catering to the appetites and impulses of their carnal nature] cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him. Rom 8:8

First John 2:15-16 says, "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

May the grace of God abide in you brother.

It's important, i stress, very important to have a believer as a partner.

Lets break it down..

Friends. You have friends who you share common interests with. Be it your love for a particular sport or food, could be nachos, whatever it is - you have things in common - things that you bond over and can relate to. I've never had someone whom i shared no common interests and yet call them friends.

How can to walk together lest they agree? Birds of the same feather flock together.

Now when it comes to partners, not only are they meant to be your friend, the reason you are with them is mainly the goal to have a future. Now if they don't believe, it won't help you- if anything your faith will eventually suffer.

For example - you as the believer know its wrong to defile your body in anyway. Your unbelieving partner does not see it that way. Already thats a worry. He/she is understanding and accommodating you might say, but what you are forgetting is YOU are the one who will end up compromising or yielding.

Lets take the "no sex before marriage" line. You agree - s/he doesn't...then what?

I've seen it happen before. Girls in my church- "There are no men in this church etc". They go out and get their worldly men- 2-3 years later they bite the bullet and separate because they are not equally yoked.

If anything, PRAY for God to give you a believer. Remember Samson and Delilah? Perfect example....

Having been in a 30 yr+ relationship where my spouse was neither a practicing christian nor my friend I can truly say that it is extremely important that your significant other to not only be a Christian and live a Christian life. I do not want a relationship where living a Christian life is not the main focus of both parties.

I have never dated a christian man but am now of the mindset that if I don't meet a man who loves God and wants to encourage me in my walk I'll stay alone.

I just want to point out, it's not our plac to try to change our spouse. We should try to share our beliefs with them, yet in a kind, gentle fashion. We must respect the others beliefs. Everything must be done with the Spirit of love, who knows if you're the only "Jesus" they may know.
